With just a few weeks left before Christmas and the festivities that come along with it, The Promenade Hotel here in Puducherry held its annual cake mixing ceremony. This event, in which the hotels’ guests, invitees and staff participate is always a moment of joy and fun.

Under the direction of Executive Chef Sathish, the participants were guided in the process of marinating the fruits and nuts, the main ingredients for the Plum Cakes and Puddings. Close to 40 kilos of assorted dry fruits were mixed with cinnamon, nutmeg and generous amounts of liquor. This mixture was then placed in containers and left to marinate until the day when preparation of the desserts begins. Chef Sathish pointed out that the longer the mix is left to marinate, the better the flavors of the cakes and puddings will be.

The age-old ceremony of cake mixing is considered to be an usher for good tidings and happiness.

The cake mixing was followed with a Christmas cocktail making session by Promenade’s expert mixologist and Bar Manager, Naresh Babu. He entertained the guests by showcasing his skills in the preparing of a delicious Sangria with nuts, the cocktails were then served to the enthusiastic guests.

The cakes can be pre-ordered from the first week of December at The Promenade hotel, Le Dupleix hotel, Le Pondicherry store and Casablanca store. (a 500 gram cake at Rs.800+tax and 1kg cake at Rs.1600+tax).
